Sensory-Friendly Family Movies
Join us at 4:00PM on October 16, 23, and 30 for sensory-friendly family movie nights!
We will be showing the first three movies in the popular animated franchise featuring Dracula, Mavis, Jonathan, and a bunch of other ghoulish friends.
Some lighting will be kept on and talking and moving is permitted during the showing.
Snacks will be provided.
Story Time
Join us every Friday morning at 10:30AM for story time!
Our story times give children and their caregivers an interactive way to learn, play, and connect together. Each program includes the five basic practices of Every Child Ready to Read—reading, writing, singing, talking, and playing—helping children develop the foundations they will need to become successful readers before starting school, all while strengthening the caregiver-child bond.
Through shared books, songs and rhymes, conversations, movement, and playful activities, caregivers support their children’s early literacy development. Additionally, story time creates opportunities for caregivers and children to explore new concepts and ideas, learn new words to expand their vocabulary, and use their imaginations.
Please feel free to take a break or step out with your child at any time if they need a little reset—there’s no pressure to stay for the whole story time!
Pajama Storytime Series
As the evenings grow cooler, families are invited to wind down with the Pajama Story Time Series in October. Children 4 years old to 8 years old are encouraged to wear their favorite pajamas or comfy clothing and enjoy bedtime-themed stories, songs, and calming activities.
Pajama story time provides a cozy atmosphere that promotes family reading routines and helps children prepare for a restful night of sleep.
We’ll also have a Stuffie Sleepover on Monday, 9/16 after our finale pajama story time. Children are encouraged to bring their favorite toy or favorite stuffed animal to the library, say goodnight, and leave it behind for an overnight adventure. Families should aim to pick up their child’s favorite toy or stuffie within the week and will get a personalized letter and photos detailing what their companions did in the library all night.

Hawk Creek Nature Show
Join us on Wednesday, October 14 at 4:00PM in the Howe Gallery to see the Hawk Creek Nature Center present on Silent Hunters of the Night, featuring some live owl friends.
A synopsis from the Hawk Creek Wildlife Center:
“It’s late at night, and as you’re walking down the street you disturb something in a nearby tree. A flash of white and an eerie scream… a ghost? You know better, but then what? Encounters like this have led to a number of misunderstandings about owls, but with some education, we can reduce the chances of you having those thoughts again. Take this opportunity to meet three elegant nighttime predators and learn about the myths and reality of these silent hunters”.
